This beauty was crafted in Japan 1981 and is one of the cleanest vintage Artists you are likely to find.
Starting off with a mahogany/maple body and a set maple neck, it’s no wonder the vintage Ibanez’ are known as ‘the Les Paul killers’.
The mahogany provides a classic midrange push tone- with plenty of low end. The maple adds in some sparkle, and the set neck creates fantastic tone transfer and sustain.
Dual Super 58 Tri-Sound pickups provide a world of tones. Each pickup has its own phase/coil tap/humbucker switch. These are fed into the active 3 band eq with its own on/off switch. In the same eq circuit is an adjustable boost, which is a real lifesaver when you come across a tube amp that doesn’t have enough gain(generally what you encounter at a show where the backline is provided). Just flip the switch and roll up the gain knob and you’re ready to go.
As you can imagine, there are a lot of tones on tap here- from crystal brilliance to warm single coil to full-out rock.
Ibanez has always been known for their thin necks and this one is a perfect example. The maple neck here is .82″ deep at the 5th fret with a C profile. Super comfortable while the neck through design provides fantastic tone transfer and full access to all 22 frets. Add to that the 12″ fretboard radius and you have a brilliant player.
The look here is beautiful- Cherry Sunburst finish with:
figured Maple top, multi-ply binding throughout, ebony board, abalone block inlays, Cloud tailpiece, Sure-Grip knobs, Velve-Tune machines, and gold hardware.
This Ibanez is in very good – excellent overall condition The frets here are clean- setup with action just 3/32″ at the 12th fret low E.
This Ibanez includes the hardshell case in pictures.
