Ibanez made the STARFIELD ALTAIR AMERICAN CUSTOM (models ALC1220 and ALC1225) from 1992 until 1994. It was the mahogany bodied, flame maple topped version of the Starfield American Classic. This was a high end model: by the looks of the design it was a response by Ibanez to the success of PRS in the early 1990s. The Altair Custom and had two direct mounted Seymour Duncan humbuckers. The bolt on neck was single piece maple with all-access neck joint and 25 inch scale length.The ALC1220 model had a maple fingerboard and the ALC1225 an ebony fingerboard. This model came with transparent finishes – to show off the flamed maple top, with tobacco sunburst, cherry, green or grey color options.

The Starfield Altair SJ Custom (ALC630) was also available and had three Vintage single coil pickups.
